John Batey, PE, will be representing OMA at the upcoming, March 25, 2015, NFPA-31 meeting where, among other issues, the discussion will focus on a proposed update regarding  changes in the standard for the Installation of Oil Burning Equipment.

One key area of change includes the chapter on Air for Combustion and Ventilation. Changes are proposed for adding a requirement for testing houses for depressurization when a heating unit is first installed.

The objective is to eliminate uncertainty in the standard related to normal infiltration and to develop an easy to conduct a test based on past work by NYSERDA and others.
